Cheers! 15 YMF members got together on Friday April 5 for Happy Hour at the Porch. Activities included cornhole, giant jenga, and connect four. 

Puppy Pals Part 2

YMF members loved this event so much that we did it again! Volunteers walked and brushed dogs at the Maricopa County East Valley Animal Shelter on Saturday, March 23, 2019.

A group of 8 Phoenix Branch YMF members attended the 2019 ASCE Western Region Younger Member Council (WRYMC) Conference in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 7-9. We had a great time and came back with many ideas to make 2019 an amazing year for our group!

Flagstaff Snow Trip

February 22, 2019

On February 22-24, a group of Phoenix Branch YMF members traveled to Flagstaff, Arizona for some fun in the snow. Activities included snowboarding, skiing, sledding, building snowmen, and snowball fights! 

Future Cities Volunteering

January 19, 2019

Over the course of a month, YMF Volunteers judged the Future Cities program. The Future Cities program gives Middle School Students an opportunity to design and present  their idea of a futuristic city. Over the course of the month-long competition, 8 YMF volunteers graded essays, presentations, models, and oral presentations.

Top Golf Social

January 18, 2019

A group of YMF members got together for some Top Golf on Friday, January 18, 2019. Members grabbed a few drinks and participated in friendly competition for highest score. 

Puppy Pals!!

November 10, 2018

YMF volunteered at the Maricopa County Animal Shelter by walking dogs as part of their Puppy Pals Program.

2018 Cornhole Tournament Fundraiser

October 27, 2018

The third annual YMF Cornhole tournament took place on October 27 at the Pera Club in Tempe.  Over 80 people from Phoenix engineering firms and agencies participated in a day of friendly competition in support of the YMF foundation and student scholarship.

 

A big thank you is owned to the 2018 Fundraising Committee and all the volunteers that made this day possible.

Volunteer Event at Feed My Starving Children

July 26, 2018

Fifteen YMF members volunteered their time at Feed my Starving Children in Mesa, AZ. There was much to be done! YMF individually packed over 20 boxes full and played a large part in preparing $11,500 worth of meals to be delivered to children in Peru! 

Sedona Social/Technical Tour

May 05, 2018

ASCE YMF members enjoyed an overnight trip to Sedona, Arizona on May 5, 2018. Activities in Sedona included hiking, wine tour, and dinner. On the way back, the YMF members stopped at Arcosanti for a tour of the sustainable community. Kristina Swallow, ASCE President, and her husband also attended. 

MESA PVC Bridge Competition

April 21, 2018

ASCE YMF members volunteered at the Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) PVC Bridge Competition on Saturday, April 21, 2018 with Southern Arizona Branch YMF. Middle and High School Students compete to design and build bridges based on various specifications including height, width, length, and load capacity. Students compete to design bridges that hold 100 pounds and build their bridges in the least amount of time. YMF Volunteers aided with check-in, set-up, load testing, timing and scoring.

St. Vincent de Paul Community Garden

March 10, 2018

On March 10th, 2018 YMF pitched in at St. Vincent de Paul’s Community Garden Located in downtown Phoenix. The garden grows organic fruits and vegetables that St Vincent de Paul uses in meals for needy families. YMF assisted in spreading compost on two planting beds, in creating berms in the beds to enhance irrigation, and in clearing out a section of the garden that had been overrun with weeds and grass. All in all, YMF put in some hard work while learning some key aspects of sustainable gardening such as effective composting.
